More Website Inquiries
A lot of resources, and blog postings, are spent trying to figure out how to drive traffic to your website. Between writings on search optimization, email marketing and social media, it sounds like all you need to do is drive thousands of visitors to your site and your job is done.
But what happens once visitors get to your website? You need leads from that traffic.
Give them something to do
We are not fans of large graphics or things flashing across the screen on a website. All it says is “pay attention to me” and then what? Time onine is valuable. Visitors are trying to get things done, they want questions answered or they want to learn something.
Testing this theory, we launched a new tool on our website. We created the Online Website Review to give visitors to our site something to do. The time spent on this tool was equivalent to the resources required to put a flash movie on our homepage, but what we got out of it was a lot more. Our traffic is up, time on our website has increased and other conversion activities, like requesting a consultation are also up.
Ideas on How to Use Interactivity on your Website
Once we had the Online Website Tool created, here are some of the ideas we used to capitalize on the tool:
- Started with a Twitter launch – As we were testing the tool, before we even launched the link on our website, we started tweeting about the new Review Tool. Just a tweet, once per day, generated traffic to the tool right away. Great use of our Twitter account, great way to get our Twitter followers to our website.
- Building an Email List – Everyone who starts the tool gives us their email address. We have been able to take these emails and build a new email list for prospects.
- Word-of-Mouth Referrals – The most interesting benefit so far is seeing word-of-mouth referrals that our strategic partners have sent us, that we have not talked to yet, showing up as users of the Website Review Tool. We will be tracking how this impacts our sales conversion rate and maybe post an update.
Make your website a destination by creating something fun and useful for people to do. All that traffic will stick around long enough to become leads if they have a reason to and if you are not sure how to do it, sign-up for a free website consultation and we can brainstorm some ideas.
